Teenagers' self-confidence affected by social media could be relieved by a right marketing campaign

Adolescents' use of social media and online life has increased recently, especially after the pandemic, which hurts kids' mental health.

They have been online for a longer period, and this has many external effects that affect their mental health directly.

One of these effects is that they post tuned and heavily retouched photos online, which affects their self-esteem and changes their perceptions of true beauty.

Statistics show that:

-34% of teenagers spend more than 3 hrs./per day using social media.

-90% of girls use filters or retouches for skin or body sizes before posting pictures online.

-80% of girls compare when they're looking at other people on social media.

-25% of girls have thoughts that they don’t look good unless they edit their photos before posting them online.

-In an attempt to look more beautiful, the average number of selfies taken by girls before posting online is 14 selfies.

This demonstrates how these new programs and photo editing have altered teenagers' perceptions of true beauty and self-confidence.

We must face this problem and get back to the basics of real beauty concepts by increasing teenagers' self-confidence and showing the difference between the real picture and the pictures posted online. This allows us to relieve negative effects and pressure on teenagers.
